ABOUT PASTOR

Rev. Anthony Scott is a passionate visionary seeking to fulfill his mission of evangelistic outreach by teaching minds, changing hearts, and touching the world. This vision led him to First Baptist Church North Tulsa in December 2008, where he continues to serve as Senior Pastor. Early on the Reverend knew he would be called to preach after observing his father’s ministry. Rev. Scott was born in Ft Wayne, Indiana to Rev. Donald L. and Velma Scott. At the age of 4 he and his family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. When he turned 8 he accepted his invitation to Christ after being inspired by Romans chapter 8. Growing up, he took a great interest in football and played for Edison High school. Edison is also where Pastor fell in love with his wife Kelly.
From there he pursued a higher form of education and graduated from Langston University with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration. Following graduation Rev. Scott declined two lucrative job offers and accepted his calling to be a minister. Two years later Pastor Scott and the former Kelly Robbins were married on August 28, 1993. Their union has blessed them with two sons Anthony and Jared Scott. Soon after, he continued his education by obtaining two Masters Degrees, one in Theology and the other in Ministry from Andersonville Theological Seminary (with an emphasis in Pastoral Leadership). During this time he was mentored by Dr. Bertrand M. Bailey Sr., Senior Pastor of Saint Andrew Baptist Church. It was under his leadership that Rev. Scott was licensed to preach and ordained as a minister of the gospel. Rev. Scott went on to shepherd his own flock at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Haskell, Oklahoma for three years. Prior to joining First Baptist he served at St. Mark Baptist Church in Muskogee, as Senior Pastor for ten years.
For over 18 years Pastor Scott has been preaching the gospel, but his calling has extended far beyond the pulpit. His achievements have led him to make great strides across the state of Oklahoma. He is currently an active member of the following organizations: National Baptist Convention U.S.A. Inc.; the Oklahoma Baptist State Convention where Rev. Scott serves as 2nd Vice President of the Convention; the Creek District Baptist Association where he serves as Vice-Moderator-At-Large; and he is a guest contributor to the Oklahoma Eagle Newspaper and the Greenwood Journal. Rev. Scott endeavors to make First Baptist not only a historic church, but a leading church in the Tulsa Community and the state of Oklahoma. Most recently he has been working on his Doctorate in Philosophy. His focus is on Pastoral Ministry and his dissertation is on Transforming Congregational Culture through Expository Preaching.
