Reverend Anthony L. Scott is a passionate visionary seeking to fulfill his mission of evangelistic outreach by Teaching Minds, Changing Hearts, and Touching the World. This vision led him to assume leadership of the Historic First Baptist Church North Tulsa in December 2008.

Pastor Scott was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Rev. Donald L. and Velma Scott.  At an early age his family moved from St. Louis, Missouri to Tulsa, Oklahoma.

He completed his high school education by attending Thomas A. Edison. His academic pursuits were continued at the famed Langston University where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration.  After graduation, he married the former Kelly Robbins on August 28, 1993. This union has been blessed with two wonderful sons Anthony Craig and Jared Donovan.  Over the years he has continued his education by obtaining a Masters in Theology from Andersonville Theological Seminary (with an emphasis in Pastoral Leadership), and a Masters in Ministry from the same institution.  Most recently, he has been working towards a Doctorate in Philosophy from Newburgh Theological Seminary. His dissertation project, Transforming Congregations through Expository Preaching is near completion.

Over the past 21 years he has served as senior pastor to four congregations, including Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Haskell, Ok (3 years), St. Mark Baptist Church, Muskogee, Oklahoma (10 years), and now in his sixth year at First Baptist.

Pastor Scott’s ministry extends far beyond the pulpit.  He is an active member of the National Baptist Convention, U.S.A. Inc; the Oklahoma Baptist State Convention where he has served as 2nd Vice President, and currently serves as 1st Vice President, the Creek District Baptist Association where he was recently elected to serve as the 11th Moderator in the 137 year history of the Association, Dean of the Pastoral Theology Department with the Tulsa Branch of the T. Oscar Chappelle, Sr. Oklahoma Baptist School of Religion, member of the Downtown Tulsa Clergy Group, and recently he was appointed to the Tulsa World Editorial Community Advisory Board.
