Visit this house, we beg you, Lord, and banish from it the deadly power of the evil one. May your holy angels dwell here to keep us in peace, and may your blessing be always upon us. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer is essential in the life of every Christian. Without prayer, we wither on the vine, and lose our protection and strength. For apart from Jesus, we are nothing. But through Christ, we can do all things. This writing will help you better understand the important subject of prayer. My prayer, is that you grab hold of the truths about Christian prayer, and begin to implement them in your personal life, family life, and in your church and city. May you grow in The Fear Of The Lord, and encourage others to pray to help bring in the end-time harvest of souls.

Why Pray for the 10/40 Window? When I first started woiknrg for the World Network of Prayer, many of the prayer organizations in the evangelical world had a major emphasis on praying for the 10/40 Window . Then the focused shifted elsewhere and many have stopped emphasizing the 10/40. Now in 2011, you seldom hear it even mentioned. What is the Ten Forty Window you might ask? It is the area on the map that is located from 10 degrees southto 40 degrees north of the equator. There are 69 nations in the 10/40 Window that stretch from North Africa, across the Middle East and into Central Asia. Nearly four billion people live here, including 90 percent of the world’s poorest of the poor. It is estimated that 1.6 billion of these people have never had the chance to hear the Gospel and have no idea who Jesus is. The seat of every major non-Christian religion is headquartered in the 10/40 Window. (Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Animism, Atheism and Sikhism). Two thirds of the world’s population live within this area and 95% of them are unevangelized. In many of the 69 countries within the 10/40 Window, witnessing to someone is illegal and will result in imprisonment or death. Forty-five of the 50 worst countries for persecuting Christians are in the 10/40 Window. Child slavery and child prostitution run rampant in these nations. Horrific abuse of women and children is an everyday event. A majority of the world’s terrorist organizations are based in the 10/40 Window and children as young as two are trained to be Jihad soldiers. The needs in this area are both desperate and urgent. I guess my question to you today is why aren’t we praying more for the 10/40 Window? God has been dealing with my heart about this and I am finding that many people around me are feeling the same. The time is short. As Christians, shouldn’t we spend our time praying bigger than our circle of influence? The most populated area of the world is the least evangelized and this grieves my heart. My guess is it grieves God’s as well. It is reported that only $.05 of every $100 spent on missions globally (all denominations) is directed toward the nations in the 10/40 Window. The is $.0005% of all missions money designated to bring the Gospel to 66% of the world’s population.I’m not sure why the focused has shifted from the 10/40 Window, but it seems to me that the opposite should be taking place. In this Prayer Connect, we are listing the countries in the 10/40 Window. Please take time each day to pray for a few (or all) of them. If you will look at some of the names and make note of them, I think you will see these same nations show up in much of the world news you hear about today. (Iran, Egypt, Israel, Libya, Syria, Somalia, Afghanistan) We have a big God. Isn’t it time we prayed big prayers?Lisa MarshallStrategic Prayer CoordinatorWorld Network of Prayer
